What is Team Social Studies?

Team Social Studies is the Secondary Social Studies Education Program at the Neag School of Education.  Team Social Studies includes an Integrated Bachelor’s/Master’s Program for pre-service secondary social studies teachers, a doctoral program, alumni support for our graduates in schools, a study abroad program in England, and collaboration with history museums and secondary schools.

Team Social Studies is led by Dr. Alan Marcus, and consists of Junior, Senior, and Master’s cohorts of pre-service teachers, doctoral students, as well as an extensive network of alumni throughout Connecticut, the United States, and the world.

We strive to teach all facets of social studies in authentic, and meaningful ways, that will encourage our students to be life-long learners, and will help them to engage in their civic community.  We hope our graduates are change agents in their schools and in society providing leadership and compassion.
